Crashed Ice / by rich auger

Where do adrenaline junkies on skates go when they are not at the bar throwing back some beers? They strap on the skates and head to RedBull Crashed Ice in Quebec City. Held later this month as the city celebrates their 400th anniversary, the event consists of racers skating downhill, yes downhill, in heats of 4. Oops forgot to mention that the racers will be skating on a course that consists of hairpin turns, big-air jumps and vertical drops usually reserved for draw bridges (got that one from the site)  all under the watchful eye of the Château Frontenac, the Saint Lawrence River and 75,000 cheering fans . In the end one crazy a$$ skater will be crowned victorious and if you are thinking of heading to Quebec City this winter try going the weekend of January 25 & 26 and pick a favourite skater to root for.

Check out the site and watch the video. These guys are crazy!
