Two of the top design portals over the years have called it quits so we pay our respect to them and reflect on the future of the design portal.

Well over five years ago the designer community began to see the birth of the modern day design portal. Designers spent their days surfing these sites looking for inspiration and hoping to see their sites mentioned. These were the superstars of the industry and we could trust that they knew good design. We believed them and their work spoke volumes.

Fast forward to today as we witness two of the originals lay their sites to rest while others remain stagnant or update with less frequency. Is the design portal being taken over by the world of amateur designers and bloggers creating a new type of superstar and should we be worried? Let us know what you think.
