Multitouch surface computing is an amazing new way of interfacing with technology. The brains behind it believe it will revolutionize how we use technology in all areas of life. Microsoft has been the first to step up to the plate with its multitouch coffee table which allows users to engage with their digital lifestyle using only the finger tips. Though mind-blowing, presenting it as a "coffee table" raises some questions - is this just a fancy entertainment system for the home? What practical applications will it have in the form of a coffee table? Leaning over a coffee table for hours on end isn't so appealing to me. Replace my mouse, keyboard and 30" display with a multitouch draft table like device and now we're talking...

Perhaps after the iphone hype (which also utilizes multitouch technology), Apple will make a multitouch computer that is more than just an entertainment device...
